Case Study
Requirement:
With an Energy Efficiency drive running over the November / December period Homebase approached Creative Jar to create an interactive 3D feature for their website. The brief was to create a 'flash' based, interactive module which would allow the customer to navigate through a house replacing standard appliances with energy efficient versions to see the possible savings on energy and bills.
Creative:
The interface design concepts were created after presenting detailed room by room mood boards of the house to the client. The design was styled to allow for a certain amount of flexibility, should the client want to add more rooms to house in the future. The 3D feature was to sit inside the current Homebase website so was designed to be in keeping with the Homebase site look and feel.
Technical:
The house and fly through animations were created and developed in Maya and rendered in Mental Ray. The interface was developed in Flash 9. Dynamic XML was used to manage images and content. This allowed the client the ability to make changes to products and energy savings on the fly, adding further value to the house, keeping it live and current.
Website Success:
The 3D house was launched on the 24th October and promoted from the main flash promo area of the Homebase home page. Homebase felt the final house feature delivered by the Creative jar team was excellent. A recent testimonial highlights best, the client's response to the project as a whole:
"The end result was excellent. There were also some extremely tight deadlines and communication from the team was superb! I can't fault it. I really like working with Creative Jar very much. They are professional; skilled and work hard to achieve."
