Extranet Development
The Brief
NAVTEQ provides geographical data for a whole range of applications including, satellite navigation systems, online maps and radios.
The company wanted to evolve its EMEA sales strategy to open up other channels to sell its products. NAVTEQ had a basic concept; to get car dealers to sell the products and updates when selling vehicles.
NAVTEQ engaged Creative Jar to work as its strategic partner to help fully conceive the idea and produce a multi-lingual Dealer Extranet; coined the NAVTEQ Dealer InfoNet.
What we did:
Working as a preferred supplier for this large organisation, Creative Jar is more than just NAVTEQ’s design agency, it is part of the team.
Working with the primary contact and stakeholders, Creative Jar held a programme of workshops to define NAVTEQ’s detailed requirements for the extranet. The workshops revealed that not only were user experience and design important, but the site also needed to dynamically capture data and content updates.
A new CMS was built for use by multiple stakeholders based on the SharePoint platform, enabling NAVTEQ to easily communicate with the dealers and fully control the information they received.
Because dealers needed to take customer details to sell the product, a secure database was developed. This allowed dealers to offer assurance that customer details would not be lost or re-distributed, but also that details would be accessible when it was time to contact a customer for their update.
The Result
The new extranet exceeded expectations, and opened up a new communications channel between NAVTEQ and its dealers. Information is now available at the dealer’s fingertips, they receive up-to-date newsletters about products and offerings, saving time and driving sales.
As NAVTEQ’s valued partner, Creative Jar continues evolve the InfoNet as well as working on, and consulting on, the usability of the NAVTEQ map stores and branded stores.
